2017 is upon us and if your like 99.99% of the country you will make plenty of New Year’s resolutions. Well, for your 2017 resolution take the time to plan what you want to accomplish and how long it could realistic take. Check out some of our resolutions for a little more help.
1) Sign Up at Gym
For 2017-find time to go to the gym and get 30-45 minutes out of your day performing different exercises. Many health professionals recommend getting at least 30-45 minutes a day as it has a great effect on not only your physical health but also mental health. Staying sharp mentally is as important as physical health and with the right fitness schedule you should be prepared for any tasks in your life.
2) Stay in Touch with Friends and Family
Staying in touch with Friends and Family is very important for both physical and mental health. The reason being is life can get very monotonous on the day to day grind. Do yourself a favor and go out and find an old family member or friend you have not spoken too in a while.
3) Quit Smoking
Not everyone is a smoker and statistics show that we are smoking a lot less per person compared to just 20 years ago. Quitting smoking has numerous health benefits such as improved oral health (cleaner gums and teeth), improving the condition of your heart and lungs. Quitting smoking will even improve the blood flow in your entire body.
4) Cut Back on Drinking
Everyone loves to get out once in a while to take your mind off of things. The thing is that alcohol can be very addictive and before you know you are drinking more than you should. Take a look at your drinking habits and pick a day of the week where you can go out and give yourself enough time to recover so that you perform at a high level at work.
5) Get More Sleep and Stick to a Schedule
This can be a tough one, as most have a very busy schedule and even when not busy there is probably a million things on your mind. Pick a time to go to bed each day and pick a time that you actually want to fall asleep and set your alarm for every day at the same time. This will help your body stick to a daily schedule and before you know it should be automatic.
6) Travel More
A key to both mental and physical health is to get out of your element. A lot of times I find myself sticking to my bubble (apartment, work, gym). Well, take some time out to see something you have been too before or find a new hike to go on. This will help you take your mind off the daily grind!
7) Run or Go On Walks More
There are so many different health benefits to walking and running but I find that running helps get my mind off things more than any other. I like to go to a new place I have never run before and just run if I see a right turn that seems interesting I will take it. The thing with running is it is the ultimate test of your body and every time you go out take notes on the length and time you ran. 8) Cut Back on Junk Food
I will not lie, there are many times that I get a sweet tooth or even drive by my local pizza place and can’t stop myself from indulging. This is just human nature and we need to teach ourselves not do this. Instead of the sweets find a healthy alternative. Instead of ice cream go to the grocery store and get the fat-free alternative. While this is not perfect cutting calories and fat will build up over time which means that you won’t have to spend as much time in the gym to get your body where you want it to be.
